Scottish Hoppers
Computer Science Research
Colloquium
Glasgow, April 17
1998
A Colloquium for Women Researchers in Computer
Science in Scotland.
The Colloquium aims to provide a forum for the
increasing number of women Computer Science researchers in
Scottish Universities to come together to exchange ideas,
form new collaborations, and more simply, become aware of
the network of women conducting research across Scotland.
The model is the very successful Grace Hopper meetings, held
every two years in the USA, (see
hopper).
The Colloquium will complement the activities
of the UK group WIC
(Women in Computing) which is committed to encouraging more
women into the field.
The
Timetable
The Colloquium will begin at 10:00 (with the first talk
at 10:30), and finish at around 16:00.
The timetable
will allow ample time for discussion and
networking.
The
Speakers
The invited speakers will cover a range of topics, from
computer algebra to artificial intelligence and legacy
systems, and include women at various stages of their
careers.
The speakers include:
Dr Heather Alexander (BT Software Engineering Centre)
